how do i know 2 set timing?
how can i tell the timing is off? i think it could be off but not sure. the idle is up and down in drive gear and jumps slightly and comes back down. ive changed many parts on the car not for this purpouse but 4 maintinace purpouses. whats making the idle go up and down while in drive? ive put a new IAC on 7month ago but does that have to be set right with somthin? if so, please tell me how 2 do it.

on my 89 2.8 (not sure what you have) disconnect the est wire (brown and tan wire back by passenger side firewall), use a timing gun and set to 10 degrees. 11-12 if your timing chain is really old. shut car off and reconnect wires.

Advancing it a few degrees will help low end. If you start to ping or feel the power flatten out at top end then back it off a degree of two until it feels better. Stock timing calls for 10*- I run 13* some run as high as 14.
