The oil in the K&N can ruin your mass air sensor!
I went back from K&N to a plain old stock paper filter to avoid that!!

If your engine is stock, you won't get any power gains bij fitting a so called "performance filter".
Keep the original Delco, and change it at every tune up! (like every 5000-7500mls)

I've had K&N for almost 3yrs on my car, granted I don't have MAF but I've had no problems.

First, the V6 MAF isn't a hot-wire style MAF... I *seriously* doubt the frequency film is going to give a damn about a little filter oil. Second, he has a 92... what MAF?!

Regardless, the performance benefits of better filtration in the dual snorkel setup are debatable. The paper filters flow enough to feed a 350, though probably with a pressure drop... the pressure drop is likely negligable with a V6 (always meant to hook a MAP up to the intake tract and find out, but it's a little late for that now). With a good filter hurt performance? Probably not. Is 2 hp worth 80 bucks? That's a question only you can answer.

With the K&N though you can recharge them for a fraction of the cost, so while it may cost $40 for the filter in the first place you can recharge it later for much cheaper.

IMHO, due to the fairly limited amount of technology you can put into a cotton gauze filtration element at this point in time, I would have to say I believe that *all* high end cotton gauze filters are created equal. K&N, Accel's Kool Blue, Fram Air Hogs... the only differences that can really occur are the density of the element (not likely to vary much), the material used to force the cotton to keep its shape (probably a metal mesh on all 3, and I'm not going to nitpick on the material used when it constitutes less than an ounce of metal), and where the cotton was grown... oh! And the most important feature.. the color!!

Here's my take:

They're good to have, but you probably won't feel a difference unless your old air filter was clogged to hell.
