troubles starting

troubles starting

every once in a while my car decides it doesnt wanna start after its been runnin. a few weeks ago i was driving with my cousin and we stopped to look at a car and wen we went to turn the car back on it wouldnt start and it sounded like the starte was clicking but the motor wouldnt roll over. we juss let it sit for a while and then it started right up. same thing happened today with my friend. is there something i can do to fix this?

How hott is that starter getting, if your car is hott when this happens it probably related to your starter. Because you said when you wait, then it starts, sounds like an over heated starter or just an old starter in need of replacement. I have a 69 camaro that had the same prob. It would just click sometimes, turns out the starter was getting to hott. Hope this helps

thanks. sounds like that could be it. the car doesnt run hot though, so im thinkin it probly it just needs a new starter. thanks for the help. oh and is there anyway to prevent the starter from getting so hot?

I would take it off and bring it to Advanced Auto or Auto Zone and have them test the starter first. They make heat sheilds for the starter that keeps them cooler. I did that with my camaro, had no more problems. Your car doesn't need to run hott, just the exhuast heats it up. Good Luck, let me know if you need anything else
