dead??? i hope not

Ok so do to the hurricane that we had, and what Virginia beach felt of it, I had no choice but to drive my car part of the way through a flood, whelp water up to the doors and no stall, however when I decided I had better not progress anymore that I already did I made a turn and the street I was going to park my car on completely covered my nose in the firebird for a bout 7 seconds and then I was able to get it to a stopping point while it was still running.

Now for the bad part/question; I went back to the car right after I walked the rest of the way home to get some shorts on and when I went back I took off the intake air hosing up to the plenium and there was a spot about little less of .5 oz of water sitting on the plenium nose just after the plastic intake hose.

The car would turn over but it couldn’t start I’m pretty sure it was flooded with water. Tomorrow I hope it will start.

If I’m not mistaken isn’t HYDROLOCK when your motor will not turn over at all or did I possibly HYDROLOCK my baby. It will turn over and almost start up but it just couldn’t do it.

So please tell me if you think I have killed her.

I'll definately post how it goes tomorrow.

If it turns over that is good. Hydrolock stops the motor completly (and if it was running, bend rods). You probably just flooded it with water.

i heard pouring desielfuel into the spark plug holes will loosen up a flooded motor, stuck rings, or a motor that has been sitting for long

Yeah, you really want to take out your plugs and turn her over for a bit *before* you actually try to start her if she sucked some serious water...

If it ran fine befor. I do not recommand yet throwing parts at it. Change the oil just in case. Then run the car, let it heat up good, spray a lil carb cleaner in the throttle body and clean the IAC. Then run it more. Prob should go away unless water damaged something. Good luck

That sounds like a good place to start. I second that. If you got water in the engine, change the oil. You might want to flush it too.

If you would like to add either some marvins myster oil or even better (but a lot more expensive) Some Lucas oil. It has worked wonders in cases like this. It cant hurt to add a quart of this stuff when you change your oil. You can get either one at most parts stores. Although the Lucas oil comes in 1 gallon bottles.
