15 second ride? High compression, stall, gears, cam will do it...
Nitrous will do it quickly!

A V8...JK
LoL
Go with the Nitrous. And if you do all the other naturally asperated stuff and then add the nitrous you might have a mid to high 14 second maybe if your lucky high 13.

whatever dynomax cat-back I have sounds nice. Alot of un-car knowing people ask what v8 I have in it while at idle. Once it starts to climb in the rpms, and that holloed cat starts rattling, you can then tell its a v6.

I would imagine making the 60* V6 3.1L to go from 17 seconds
to 15 seconds is NOT cheap. You are talking about squeezing
an extra 100hp and a 100trq out of the thing. Your stock
trans will probably need to overhauled along with a higher stall
torque converter. Nitrous is the cheapest and quickest route,
but it's not always there. You have to keep getting the bottles
filled and you have to use it only at WOT. Along with the
knowledge of how to properly install that stuff. It's not hard
to do, once you know what your doing with it.
To make a nice "stock looking" 3.1L motor, go the N/A route!
Naturally aspirated is my fave. I don't care much for the juice.
So, a nice set of headers, high flow cat, 2 1/2" Dynomax
exhaust, 3" cold air induction, ported intake, ported heads with
new pistons and bigger valves, new rings, new higher lift cam
and with new lifters, roller rockers, roller timing chain, custom
burned ECM chip, higher stall converter and 3.73s should make
it deep into 15 second range.
My car was a 3.1L with an auto. I installed the 2 1/2" Dynomax
cat back along with a 3" CAI, Accel ignition system, and 3.73s
in the rear. Did it make it hit 15s? NO WAY! Did it make it hit 16s?
Yes. It would hit 16.6-16.8s. Stock is about 17.2.
Oh, and the Dynomax cat back system sounds great on the
3.1L! NO way a V8 sound, but deeper than stock.

Hey man, I'll sell you the Nitrous kit off of my 1992 Firebird 3.1 liter Automatic, if you are really interested. My engine is completely stock other than that, and it is set up to gain 75 HP, which is a pretty good gain for a stock engine, IMHO. My car now has 178K miles on it, and the nitrous kit, originally for an 87-95 Mustang 5.0, has been on there since Spring of 1996. I have run about 20-30 bottles through it, and not had any problems.
Why am I seriously thinking about selling it? I haven't filled the bottle up in two years, so I am thinking about just letting it go. I would love to do the turbo conversion some day, but I probably will never get around to doing that.
If interested, e-mail me at Pontiacguy1@hotmail.com and make sure to put nitrous in your subject line. If you just want to ask questions about the nitrous kit in my car, that is cool too.
