ok does it run fine as long as its hooked to the other car, then die when the cables are taken off?

or does it run fine after being jumped then when you turn it off, you can't get it started again?

if its the first one its your alternator

if its the second one its your battery

Battery probably has a bad cell. You could charge it for days and it'll never hold a charge.
