OMG! It started.....
Well, A bud of mine had a few batteries lying about, so I took a Voltmeter with me and found one that was close to what it needed to be. I put it on charge all day, got it up to 13.5V . Took it home and dropped it into my basket case car, and hooked it up. Opened the door and put the key in, got the buzzer for the open door. Turned the key to run, got the voltmeter light and the check engine light, put the clutch on the floor turned the key to start, and prayed.
VROOOOOM
Holy ****, it started!
It backfired, stumbled and quit. I tried again, It started, ran for a couple of seconds, and then it backfired thru the carb.
Crap, looks like the timing is WAYYYY off. Guess I will have to work on it some more this weekend...

only if he wants to swap to fuel injection. I'd **** on that idea, if i were you. You've got a decent enough platform to build from, get a 3.4L, grab the 4bbl intake manifold (think it's an edlebrock unit) and a nice sized carb. Then find yourself a good cam to use, if you're interested in more performance, change to forged pistons with a higher compression ratio (think about 9.5:1) add a nitrous plate to the carb setup, jet for a 75 - 100 shot, and have a blast. The 3.4L w/ upgrades pulling air through the carb should get you decnet numbers already, the nitrous is just for giggles.
Glad to hear ya got it runnin.

Thanks for the sentiments... I now have to replace a butt load of vacumm hoses. everylast one is gone. I had planned on doing the 2.8 to 3.4 swap, and change the tranny from a 4 speed to a 5 speed.
Don't give up
On my Blazer 3.4 swap, I just wired in (temporary wire set up) the electric fuel pump relay & wiring to "ignition key on" the fuel pump. 3.4 have no mechanical fuel pump, must use electric.
This now allows me to concentrate on the choke set up on the 2ESE carb. I must find the one I already grabbed from wrecking yard or go find another willing carb in the yards. My 3.4 Swap project got put on hold for many months. Don't give up!
Attached it the diagram you seek!
I would just loosen the the distributor & work it until the idle becomes smooth.
Keep at it!
