idle surge on startup

alright, replaced the cap and rotor and i'm still getting a bit of hard start, if i turn the key the car will start but it feels like its gonna stall for a second, then surge up to 2500 rpm, and hold there for about 3-4 seconds. i checked the plugs, and they all burning right with no oil on them. everything under the rotor on my distributor are rusty as hell, and i'm getting smoking from the back of my motor(i think its the distributor o ring)

anyone have any ideas what the problem or problems could be? i replaced the pcv valve about a month ago.

also when i leave the car sitting for a few days it'll start up great with the first crank but not afterwords, it also starts up warm quite well

Can't really check the IAC. Just take it out and clean all of the gunk off it with some TB cleaner. Also spray the cleaner into the TB.

If that doesn't help, they go for about 25 bucks
