Roller rockers for 2.8L carbed v6
Hey guys I was going through and reading all the old threads about what you can do for V6 performance. Now the thing is, some of the "V6" is vague... because theres 2.8 mpfi, 2.8 carb, 3.1 fi and 3.4 fi.
My question is the title... anyone have a link to roller rockers for a 2.8L carbed car? is there even ones? I've looked on jegs, jcwhitney and summit and can't seem to find any.
Also does anyone know of any 4 barrel intake or performance heads? Links are most helpful because I just can't seem to find this stuff lol thanks

i don't have any links handy but, crane makes roller rockers. edlebrock makes the 4 bbl intake manifold. there are no aftermarket heads available. as far as 2.8 car'b, 2.8 fi, 3.1, and 3.4...there are no differnces in roller rockers or things like that, they are all the same.

I have CompCams Magnum roller "tip" 1.52 ratio rockers and pushrods on my 2.8 right now under the stock valve covers. The 1.6 will not fit under the valvecovers unless you go to Fiero Alum covers. http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Cu...g/HTML/310.asp
They are sold as a kit through Summit racing which includes the rollertip rockers (1.52 ratio) and the pushrods for $148.39
I put these in on the new 2.8 crate motor before it was installed aprox 3-4 years ago.I have owned the car for about 8 years before that and this made a noticible differnce in power and smoothness. The car will rev higher quicker.
The kit # is CCA-RP1413-12

I am going to Crane full roller aluminum rockers (1.6 ratio) on the new 3.5l motor I am building right now

I'm cheap so I'll just bang dents into my valve covers.
All I need is a piece of wood with a "dent mold" cut into it and I can hammer away.

best upgrade for carb heads, is to swap to FI heads.
1.6/1.3 carb
1.72/1.42 FI
Then slap on 1.52 or 1.6 rockers.
I have cat-pep 1.6 rockers on my engine. they do the job, but tick/rattle. And yes, they are adjusted right.

So fuel injected heads would give me some boost in car performance?
What about heads from a 2.8L HO fiero? I just seen some on ebay and was wondering if they would fit.

lol ok didn't know. But at least I learned something new
So fuel injected camaro heads eh. From the bad things I've read about the carbed v6 heads, i'd assume i'd get a decent amount of power out of these new heads? Maybe like 5-10 hopefully?

Very possible. A Cam swap, 4bbl Edelbrock intake, and like a 390cfm Holley would do you some fun on top of a 3.4L motor!

Alright cool. I'll look into some heads. Are heads hard to install? Or do I just take off valve covers and the heads on my camaro, put those new ones on and put the valve covers back?

any fuel injected RWD 2.8/3.1/3.4 have "the same head".
s10
camaro
feiro
I'm sure their are more.
I thought an 1985 would be MPFI? Its still carbed?
Heads are quite a bit of work. Were talking atleast a good saturday, if not a whole weekend. Take half your engine accessorys off. Manifolds off, intake, valve covers, pushrods loose. Distributor out. Make sure all the old gasket is off, and block is level, then start back together.

Sorry... my lil thing on the side isn't updated right, its an 1984 not 85 camaro.
As for head installation... hmmm... thats gonna suck... maybe I can go over to a friends house to do it (mostly because I can't do major repairs at home due to lease contract BLAH)
As for finding these heads... its freaking tricky! Ebay has some but i'm not a fan of buying used from someone I don't know. I can't seem to find any from a major distributor of car parts. I checked thirdgen classifieds and no luck.
I'll keep searching over and over tho... maybe i'll get lucky

The s-10 heads and camaro heads are not the same.
They will bolt up and sawp no problem.
back in the day when I had a long block from a 2.8L TBI s-10 in my car I could see that the heads are not the same.
The MPIF heads have a vane cast into the bottem of the intake runner of the head. The TBI head clearly did not have that vane.

all information I have found say TBI heads are same as MPFI heads.
My 93 s10 2.8 TBI heads look exactly like the 91 3.1 heads I have sitting in storage. The s10 heads had the vane in them also.
In fact, about a year ago when I pulled my s10 engine out, I posted a question here asking what that vane was, and why it was their.
