nitrous for 3.1?
ok i might be buying a 92 firebird w/ a 3.1 v6 and 700r4 w/ 73,000 miles on it and i want to get as much power out of it as posible and was wondering if it would be possible/smart to do here and there bolt ons and some juice? anyone done this how does it run i was thinking anywhere from 75 to 125 shot. im also swaping in a 4th gen rear and shift kit and flowmaster catback and hopefully a chip. much help would be appreciated. i would do a search but im in a hurry

geez just do a search....soem people are just so lazy, this has been covered like 20million times....
haha JOKE....i figured i would say that to get it outtve the way cuz someone was gonna...anyways if you wanna keep that engine do not go above a 75 on the stock internals 50 would be the safest obviously....lot of people have done it but theres always that risk no matter what shape the engine is in
just curious how much are the asking for that car?
as far as mods for that car i have headers and full exhaust minus cat....no emissions, a chip, and underdrive pulleys with a posi rear end =) putting down 133 hp and 178Tq

haha its cool man i had to say it, it comes up in like everypost =) i was home real quick on break from work when i posted for ya
ok well if you were thinking of rebuilding, just swap in a 3.4L v6 outta a 93-96 camaro...youll be able to do a lot more with that engine. do a search for my 3.1 to 3.4 swap to get a decent amount of info on that, if ya have any questions lemme know
if your just gonna drive that car daily and what not i would just do what i have done to my car so far, makes for a pretty nice driver and maybe a 50 shot of nitrous at most
as far as the cost....id see if i couldnt get him down a bit, i just picked up a 91 firebird in damn good shape for 1800 with 88000 miles on it...just my .02 though

thats what ill brobaly do is just basic stuff prob sort of like you had ill prob go w/ a 50 shot mabey 75 at most but 50 should be goow w/ headers and the flowmaster and a chip and all i just still wanna be able to smoke em off like i can in my trans am and still hit pretty fast top end. and that guy will probly take less so ill try 2000 or 2500 basicly need something to drive thats decent on gas and has lower miles so for when i go to school and so i can have somethin to drive while i rebuild my trans am

If you're planning on spraying NO CHIP!!! I repeat, NO CHIP!!!
Aftermarket chips advance timing curves and could cause quite a meltdown when you spray. Go with headers, and if you can, a cam with good exh. duration. These motors like nitrous, almost as much as they love boost. Good luck.

well what kind of power could i get if i do the full exhaust w/ headers and decent cam, chip, posi rear, aluminum driveshaft, shift kit, functunal ram air hood, and pullies and mabey a couple of other things? i knw its kinda wild for a daily driver but id like to build something that i could still have fun in whille im not driving my trans am and would be a good daily driver too

I would guess low 16's with the right cam, and a car as light as mine (In other words, lacking the 100 lbs of ground effects). Power would be possibly 130 at the wheels (judging by Pills' dyno). This assuming you have a 5 spd.

. It isn't wild until it can't idle at stoplights or be driven in traffic. Heck, you could go with quite a large duration cam, some ported heads, 1.6 rockers, some juice and headers, and have a VERY competitive car that is easily streetable. Or drop some cash on a proven Turbo setup and have reliability, and much more power than that LG4. Thread Starter

well unfortunaly it has the gfx and a 700r4 but i think this will be more of my pretty/cruser car but i still wanna make it as quick as posible w/ the v6 for gas milage and a low mileage v6 might be a lil more reliable than my 216000+ lg4 soon to be 383. becasue im gona be going to college soon so i need something to comute with.
