Cmaro Vs. Firebird motor differences...

I swapped a 2.8 camaro motor into my firebird. While driving it around I get a couple of problems...1) Check engine light comes on after driving for a while and car is fully warmed. (It is egr related but don't know why. Previous motor; light never came on for egr. Swapped over old egr still comes on. Put in new BOSCH O2 sensor. Redid my plastic hoses on manifold area. Could exhaust leak be the cause? 2) Rad fan turns on with car. I couldn't get my rad fan to turn on at all with old motor. Didn't some camaros have 2 fans and one ran continually? Any sensors that are Firebird specific that I should change over?

the only differences between engines of the same year should be the camero better intake.

It should all be the same except for the intake up front.

the dual fans came on the v8 camaros. Now if one ran all the time, I dunno.

no differences, they are both chevy made engines. so its the same thing excpet the intake(dual snorkel was much better).

did you swap the ecm with it?

Ya my 85 2.8 in my camaro after awhile check engine light comes on and I have absolutely no problems with the engine.

Maybe it is a fault that many had? like the leaking rear hatch?

As stated, only V8 f-bodies came dual fan. Did you delete the A/C when you did the swap? If so, there is a 2 wire connector that goes to the A/C line above the pass fender. This connector goes to a normally closed switch in the ECM. When this connector senses pressure in the A/C line, the ECM turns the fan on. If this connector is unplugged, the open circuit causes the switch to open and the fan to go on. So you either have to plug this connector back into the A/C line, or cut the plug off and tie the two wires together.
