I have read that some early third gen v6 cars did not have a power steering cooler. Which years didn't have the cooler, and does anyone have any pictures of how the lines were run. I appreciate any info.

cooler? This is news to me... My '90 V6 didn't have a cooler on it. Now I'm curious too!

My '87 has the cooler. I might be able to get some pics, but I'm not sure how long before I can get them developed...
EDIT: do you need pics of the cooler lines or pics of a setup WITHOUT the lines?

Aaron, I need pics without the cooler, but thanks anyways. To clarify, it's not really a cooler, just a hard line that runs under the radiator to allow air to pass over and "cool" it.

My '92 has one. I all ways wonder what it was. I see it every time I go under the dar to change the oil but never looked to see ware it connected to.

Thats one lame cooler. I have it, most have it.
Not sure id even worry if you do or don't.
its pretty cheesy as a cooler. You could make one like it for pennies.
Anything with steel lines can be called a cooler now I guess.
gas lines, tranny lines, brake lines. Them little curly cue coils near your master cylinder are coolers too.

I'm curious too. How are the lines run on cars without the, so called, "cooler", and which ones didn't have it? Originally posted by 25THRSS

I always wondered what those curls in the brake lines were for.Originally posted by Gumby

Interesting, my 85 doesn't have this. I wonder what the RPO codes (if any) are for these things.

I'd heard that they were supposed to reduce the chance of the metal tubes flexing, fatiguing, and cracking, since the m/c was mounted to the firewall, but the tubes went near the suspension. Never thought about them being there for a cooling effect tho!Originally posted by bru333

As to the p/s cooler, I've got one, if you don't, get one from a junkyard for $5. "Might as well" But I wouldn't go crazy trying to make it cool better or anything.
