Everyone, the theory is cracked!
I had an older post going about deleteing the ac compressor, and many people had said to just re-route the belt to a non AC. The routing is there, however the belt will not fit! Way to small. Something is different somewhere, not yet sure where though.
Maybe someone of greater knowledge will know. I think an A/C delete pulley must be used. However not sure if the v-8 ones will fit
What you guys think

Yes, but it works identical. It just on the opposite side of the motor and it mounts right side up (not upside down like on my truck)

I apoligize, i will look into a little more, probably get one off of ebay then. But the main point of this post was to tell people that u can NOT re-route the belt. Maybe if you get a custom size belt, but still not sure

you can either get a delete pulley or get a belt made for a non-A/C serp system. it would probably be cheaper and easier to just get the belt though. mine has no A/C and i do not need a delete pulley

I was told you still can't get a smaller bet because it will throw off the belt tensioner
The non ac cars are differnt.

OH! you have a 5 speed...Do you still have a smog pump? If so did you try an 86" belt. The belt for no smog pump is 81.5"

what is different about them? as far as i know, the crank, waterpump, alt, and p/s are all the same. the only difference would be the a/c. taking that off would just require a shorter belt. if there is something different id like to know though

I was doign some research and was told by someone that the power steering has a different bracket, I do not know the truth to this. I was also told that the belt tension will be screwed up if you just run a shoter belt. Again not sure on any of this. There has to be something different because it doesn't make any since, something has to be slightly different. Maybe somone will help out here.

The one nice thing about having an 86. I have that in between year belt system. I just remove the belt n toss it. It didn't run anything its self.
Though I needed a smaller belt to delete my smog pump.
