Tranny weird behavior...did it happen to you?

Hey guys, this is kinda weird, 'I am sure that someone could passed through this before. SOMETIMES the tranny jumps the gear to the upper one and then comes back, so if you are driving on 2nd it jumps to 3rd and then comes back to 2nd gear.....I repeat, it does it sometimes, not always. No matter if the tranny is cold or hot......Please guys, give me some clue on this.
PS: The first time I have noticed this was when I changed sparkplugs wireset, after that the tranny started to behave like this.

No offense but are you sure it's between 2nd and 3rd gears?

I think it's probably the TCC (torque convertor clutch) getting confused. Next time this happens, keep your foot constant on the gas, but lightly touch the brake pedal with your left foot- just enough to turn on the brake lights but not enough to slow the car down.

If the car stops it's "shifting" and acts normal, then this test proves it was your TCC engaging and disengaging. It'll do that under certain conditions; example, going up a hill under light throttle. The TCC engages but then it lags the motor down too much and idle drops so the TCC disengages. Then the motor has enough power so the TCC thinks it can engage again... then the motor lags down too much, etc etc until the hill is over.

Nuthin' to worry about. In that case, the trans is really staying in 3rd (probably 4th/OD) gear, but with the TCC engaging/disengaging, it feels like it's downshifting/upshifting.

Now if the brake-pedal-press test doesn't work and the car keeps acting like it's shifting... you might wanna bring it to a trans shop. The 2nd and 4th gears share a single band, but 1st and 3rd gears have their own set of clutches. Slipping in 2nd can mean a worn out 2-4 band.

Yeah TomP, I forgot to mention that it happens when you press the gas pedal slightly. But, when you press the gas pedal hardly it dissappears and shifts correctly.Once again, it does it suddently, not always. Thanks for your info TomP!!! I am gonna try that test.

It jumps to the higher gear, it could be from the 2nd gear to the 3 rd one, or from the 3rd gear to the 4th one.....

TomP, I made the test and you are right, when that happens, I press the brake pedal and it dissapears. So, you say that I do not have to take care of it, right?
