pacesetter headers for v6???
I was reading about the new pace setter headers and was wondering why they are olny listed to fit the 85 and later f-fodys. Why arn't the 82-84 listed. Does anyone know if they would fit the earlier models. I have an 83 2.8L with a manual clutch and the olny things I can think of is that they might not clear the clutch pushrod or mabey it is because of the emission tubes. I want to het some for my car but am not sure if they would fit. I can get rid of the emmissions tubes but i just want to make sure thats all i'd have to do. Thanks.

Well, pacesetter's reason is definitely the emissions, but fitment vs. the manual clutch linkage would also be a complete unknown thus far and rather iffy, since noone's tried yet that I know of.

Here are some pics of my driver side exhaust manifold where I think the clutch linkage may be a problem. If only I knew how far how far back the headers extend compared to the stock pipes. I couldn't get a very good angle so there is a tiny bit more space then it looks like in the pictures. Maybe someone can tell if they will fit by looking at them. I really hope they will fit because to replace it with new stock pipes would be more expensive and not as much fun as headers. Oh yeah my manifolds are wrapped with insulation because they have leakes that are starting to burn my wires incase you where wondering what that was on the pipes. Thanks you guys ROCK!!!!!

Well that sucks. I was really looking forward to getting some. Oh well. I'm not gonna switch to hydrolics because I love the feel of the mechanical clutch. Does anyone know if there are any other headers out there for us with the mechanical clutches? Or maybe I could find a shop to modify those ones by rerouting that last pipe. But I'll bet that would probely cost a lot of money. I guess it's off to the junkyard for me and try and find some used ones that are way overpriced.

I belive a few people here have taken their cars to well known muffler shops and had them create headers. I belive it was several hundred dollars for it though.

well, if yo could bring your car to pacesetter, they might be able to verify fitment.. I hear the weather there is a lot better than here. I miss the mechanical clutch, reminds me of the 77 T/A.
You might be able to find an extra drivers side manifold & compare it w/a header.

Just email pacesetter and ask them. They are fixing the fit problem with the larger oil filter, maybe they can tell you if there will be enough clearance for your linkage.
edit: I'd send them that third pic you posted.

Does anyone know if the revised sets are out yet or when they will be done? I think I am gonna get them anyways and if they don't fit I will just cut off that one pipe and weld in some pre bent curved pipe to get around my clutch bar. I don't think it would be too difficult to just mod one pipe.

it would be more then one pipe, it would be the whole left header.
Wait tell I get the revised set in, and then I will try to duplicate the angle of your pictures.
