bad motor mounts?

My car has 98,000 miles on it. In drive at a stop light, it vibrates a lot with the a/c on. When I put it in neutural or park, the vibration more less stops. COuld this be due to bad motor mounts?

That sounds just about right!
I'm serious too!
IF ya wanted less drivetrain reaction like that, buy a new car.
Does wonders for problems like that!
And I'm also serious about that too.
Aged engine, underpowered engine, heavy load, vacuum leaks, all adds up to that old car feeling.
Hey IF ya got working AC & ya in Hawaii,
OHHH BOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND if ya tell me ya on Maui, I'll be so upset to come over & solve the problem for ya!
You pay for the flight!

When I'm at a light or just stopped for that matter and I shift it into neutral and then back into drive with my foot on the brake, the car jerks forward as it switches into gear. My friends 91 V6 bird doesnt do that. His seems seamless when he does the same thing, almost like you dont notice the switching of gears. A mechanic told me my motor mounts might be going bad and that may be the cause, or something is wrong with the tranny. You guys have any clue if hes right or not?

Possibly bad mounts eh? Thanks, I'll look into that. Perhpas if I do that 3.4 swap! But no, sorry, don't live in Maui! lol

As far as Adm Ant, I have the EXACT same problem as you with the hard shifting into drive from neutural. Feels like you're almost gonna get whiplash! But it does not happen when shifting into reverse. Does it happen to you when you shift into reverse??

Open hood
Get inside car
Start engine
PUT FOOT FIRMLY FIRMLY STRONG ON BRAKE
Put in gear Drive is ok.
Give some SOME SOME gas
Then Put into reverse
WATCH ENGINE
IF ENGINE LIFTS AT ALL
Bad motor mount
IF NOT
No problem.
PS Ya screw up on this simple testing, don't blame me!
I DO MEAN keep foot ON BRAKE! and give it SOME GAS.

Yup, I plan on doing that test as well! I know my motor mounts are probably the same ones that were put in there....16+ years ago........so this may be the problem! lol

Your question about a stick car is interesting.
I am not sure of that answer
BUT if ya gonna have car on lift I am sure they can use a pry bar for that answer.
I know this works for auto cars as I did this to my Blazer & yep bad frame mount.
On our cars it's NEARLY impossible to break metal motor mounts. Frame mounts have the rubber that wears.
