2.8 to 3.1

Hi all i have a 1982 camaro with a 2.8l carby v6. I also have lying around a 3.1L injected motor, is a swap of these motors hard and is it worth the effort?

To swap in the FI part would be a bit hard. Now if you convert that 3.1 over to carb, it wouldnt be hard at all.

Just remember you will need a neutral balanced flywheel/flexplate.

Having "done this swap" (FI block to usage on a carb) I have only one thing to truly point out.
Your FI block has no provision for mechanical fuel pump.
IN my instance (1985 Blazer using a 3.4 block) I converted to electric pump in engine compartment, locating pump close by radiator, about 1"-2" higher than would be locatio on the engine block. I used a carter street pump. I also wired in a relay & fusible link for all safety factors. FOR YOU the WISEST IS to either do same or convert your tank to a TBI type gas tank and use that TBI in tank pump AND A REGULATOR to BRING DOWN the electric pump pressure. In future I will probably be doing the in tank pump.
My electric pump set up is regulated to run at 5 PSI and so will yours!
IF you do a sanitary pump set up, you shouldn't have a bit of trouble.
I incorporated my pump set up using the return flow hose & also two fuel filters, too. Why two filters?
Simple
One in the carb still in use & one at fuel line coming into engine compartment. That extra fuel filter on gas line into engine compartment also has a vapor return hose line outlet so I still have that part hooked up, too. IF you look on frame by your pump you'll probably see those three lines & each one for my electric pump conversion is used & correctly connected. I should have way less problems passing CA Smog like that. AND I know the fuel system should not be a problem for me.
