Distributor troubles

Okay so a few months ago i ported and gasket matched the intake on my 91 z28, and there was a very noticable difference in throttle response, so i thought to myself i wonder what it would to to my 91 rs(v6). So i started taking off all the intake and when i finally got to needing to take off the distributor, well, it wont come out. It should just slide right out after the hold down clamp is off, right??? Anybody ever encountered a problem like this or know what i should do??? Really want to get it off already.

Here's what ya do
KEEP WORKING AT IT!
Serious!
The o ring is "cemented in there" and that is sticking the item in the hole.
I've used long pry bars to help remove it.
Other one came out proper & easy.
Find my distributor rebuild article to see what to do to these items.
Most gains upon the reassembly will come from secure vacuum hose fittings.
Complimnet by a new timing chain, too and add new water pump for beating the summer heating blues. Better fuel economy, cooler running, longer lasting engine with extra ommph & smooth idle after all this work is done. A bit of work but the gains, the better performance & gas milage increase do speak for themselves.

Only offering what I did.
I was gentle, firm, forceful.
It may be what YOU have to do, too!
I never have said take vicegrips!
But prying it out is a very good method using selections of destructive tools!
Pick "locations of force" using common sense. I mean it is fragile to some extent.
It's the O Ring stuck in the hole
IF ya can't lift it to spray lubricants down there, this may be only method!
And if ya got it off to some extent (to spray down lubricants), then rest of removal is just more force!

All of mine were somewhat stubborn the first time. I belive I usually took a small hammer and tapped on shaft, and bottom of the top section.

Just dealt with this problem of the stuck didtributor on my V6 Firebird. Ked is right, it will come out. What I did was soak the crack where the shaft goes in the block with WD40 and some CRC Brake Kleen. The Brake Kleen especially really frees the stuck o-ring. My distributor came out in a few min. with the Brake Kleen and solvent, and no amount of pulling would get it out before.

Try twisting the base.
If ya get base freed, rest may come along ok!

got it free, all i did was stick a crowbar under it and gently priy on it. Finally now i can port and match the intake.

That'll be a nickle please!!
Clean inside of the bore with white paper towels using brake cleaner sprayed on the towel.
Keep at it until no more residue appears on the towel.
Go get new o ring & also Small Block Chevy distributor gasket.
Use both to promote leak free reassembly.
Use a FILM of Black RTV on the chevy gasket to help make sure no leakage!

Glad to pass a smile
IF ya can afford the time do the rest of work I mentioned.
Also get a small block Chevy distributor gasket & use a new o ring, too.
That combo nearly guarantees a leak free seal upon assembly. Use a film of black RTV sealer on distb. gasket both sides, slip over shaft, oil film lube the o ring, slap distb. back in. Gasket is $1!
