what mods to do next?

so heres my dilema.....

you can see what i have done to my 3.4 listed below. i can get heads and intake P&P for $350 from someone who does it for a sidejob living, very well respected around me. id also get a bigger cam. now should i do that or should i get a posi (im thinking eaton or similar) full ignition upgrade, a few other suspension goodies and a couple other things that i cant think of right now.
i know to get the full effect of the engine mods ill have to have it rechipped, will i need bigger than 17lb injectors?

what i was originally getting at is, what do you all think i should do? i cant decide what route to go. either way i go, itll be getting done within the next month or two.

Heads AND Cam!

'88, so I see you are MAF based... good, actually! I would go with either -

(For replace and not worry about it)

Crane PowerMax H-272-2
272/284 SAE duration, 216/228 @ .050", .454/.480" lift on a 112 LSA I think this is the cam AM91 is running 14s with, in addition to his intake!

Otherwise, if you don't mind checking your valve lash once in a while, and would like to really fly - get a solid lifter cam! I'd really think the 3.4 you have would LOVE a Crane PowerMax F-228/3067-2-12!

290/300 SAE duration, 228/238 @ .050" .460/.480" lift, and a 112 LSA as well.

That solid cam + your exhaust + the McKinney intake/TB + 3.4L/T5 = 1 QUICK V6!

It all depends. I actually believe a variation of the CompuCam 2030 is used in the stock 3.4L - which means you already have a 204/214, .422/.444" lift cam in there

I'd go to the 216/228, if you want a mild cam in your 3.4, and go with the solid (228/238) if you want some serious power, with a little lope to go with it

Suspension.
Ya can then really enjoy the gained HP later on, safer.
AND suspension can be done in stages so as not to deprive ya from currently enjoying the car "everyday".
DO front first, hardest, biggest effort put out.
Then subframe, then rear.
IF ya had a dying 2.8 ya wanna install more power. Ya got the more power already, enjoy it more often!
Don't forget a complete brake system overhaul, too. Hoses, bearings, fresh Valvoline DOT synthetic 4 fluid does wonders after the whole brake system is refreshed & rebuilt. Don't forget new rear wheel cylinders & fresh drum spring kit, too.
Suspension.
Then ya can really go faster, with what ya already have.

what is the main use of the car, and what do you prefure to have it do?

Daily driver, I'd spend some cheese on making sure the suspension is fit. (bushings, shocks, alighnment, etc).

Often drag use, the posi

Twistys, lowering springs, things to go with them, and subframes.

Expecting max power, heads n cam.

Oh forgot
Cheap posi is a SUPER sticky low profile drag racing tire on a 14" rim. That'll increase your rear axle ratio & improve your launch all at same time.

i use the car for a mix of all of that. ive got a lot of the suspension done already. im waiting to do the brakes till theyre worn out. theres 70% left on the frt brakes w/ new rotors, bearings, etc. i dont really wanna toss em just yet. rears were all rebuilt just before i bought it about 2 yrs ago. im thinking ill do the posi, full ignition upgrade, gonna get some thicker sway bars, and some other lil things here and there. ill save the engine work for this winter when its stored, that way i dont have to worry about rushing to get it back out.

While ya wrecking yard shopping for the sway bars see if ya can score a Posi axle!
Sounds like ya ready for the subframe set up right about now.
I'm at that stage, sub frame connectors if possible, next.

The 17lb injectors should be fine, or you could upgrade to 19lb injectors if you do lots of head work. Tuning will be necessary, esp with the larger injectors. Funstick can help with the tuning, hes in Michigan.

well, due to a recent engagement, im going to just do a cam swap this summer and probably posi and ignition. i cant afford to do the heads and intake yet($800+) im gonna try to get 1/4 mile times before and after the cam though. im leaning toward the crane cam that AM91 is running.

Not sure what his specs are, but I'd PM him first...he has a lot more compression (and revs higher) than you, and what works for his engine may not for yours.

272/284 SAE duration, 216/228 @ .050"
.454/.480" lift on a 112 LSA

GOOD IDLE, DAILY USAGE AND OFF ROAD, TOWING, PERFORMANCE AND FUEL EFFICIENCY, INCREASED COMPRESSION RATIO AND GEARING ADVISED, 2600-3000 CRUISE RPM, 8.75 TO 10.5 COMPRESSION RATIO ADVISED. BASIC RPM 2000-5000

thats what ive found on it.
