I searched around the Tranny board, and didnt find much on the V6's with a vette servo/shift kit.
Has anyone on here put a vette servo/shift kit in their 700r4.
Im looking to get a vette servo for my 91 firebird, 3.1
Do you guys recommend getting the shift kit to.
I was thinking about the TransGO from B&M says it comes with a vette servo.

i just picked up my tranny yesterday from the shop. it has a beast shell, vette servo, and a tci pro super rebuild kit. plus will be running 2000 stall converter. not put in yet though but will let you no when it is
Sounds like a bad A$$ tranny. Let me know how things go.
Im just trying to get my 3.1 as quick as i can with out spending to much $$. Or getting to deep into the engine.

A beast shell is a very good upgrade to prolong the life of the weak 2nd and OD gears in a 700r4. Thus is a very weak point for the factory and makes the sun gear fail, so the upgrade shell is great.
The Vette servo's on the other hand are in fact an upgrade from stock, but still are a standard GM factory part with so-so tolerances and barely firms up the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts in comparison to the holding power of the billet aftermarket servos.
All in all its the entire package that will make improvements on a tranny, the pump (7, 10, or 13 vane), the valve body (how its been drilled and blueprinted), the servos, the governer(shift points), the bands (kevlar, etc), the clutches (6, 7, 9, or 10 packs), the boost valve size (.471, .500, .521), cooling capacity and flow, accumulator. Thgatss the performance side. Then we can get to the durability side with the sun gears, the shell, the drum, case, imput shaft, planetary gears, etc.
Unless you are forking out big bucks, every aftermarket "built" 700r4 out there is using hand selected used parts in the rebuild unles otherwise specified or requested at an additional cost.
A very good 700r4 will cost you in the neighborhood of $2400, and average slightly upgraded from stock will go for about $1500

i paid $852 for the trans rebuild plus $300 for the tci kit. and the rebuild included every thing above completely installed as well as a 10 vane pump( i think it was 10 was a couple weeks ago and i have bad memory). the only thing not included was the converter.

yes. actually, i've heard that the transgo kit is better than b& m b/c the b & m kit relies on overlap for firm shifts. my tranny has a transgo kit, 2600 converter, extra packs in the 3-4 drum, and the vette servo. i'll be installing it in the 3rd car it's been in since being rebuilt in the next couple of weeks. it's quite nice IMHOOriginally posted by 91greenbird
