Running rich

Ok, guys, here's my problem. Please help me out here, since I need to sell the car QUICK. I KNOW I KNOW, I love it, but I'm leaving for the Marine Corps in 27 days. Thanks!

At cold starts, I have a pretty noticeable mis-fire. I just discovered this morning that the car is emiting a black carbon residue. If I drive it cold, it backfires pretty bad at higher RPM's or when I shift, and when I drive at high RPM's it sounds like crap! After driving it for a while, I get a code (45) that it's running rich, and throughout the driving range, it has a very noticalbe drop of power (yet I still smoke the ricers).

My diagnosis is the timing since everything else seems to be replaced on it so far (that's the way I feel anyways). If you have any suggestions, let me know. THANKS!

I stumbled on it in my rs 3.1L... Try checking your sensors around the full throttle body... I forgot the name of the sensor that goes atop of the throttle positing sensor
