they look like real 3.4 heads to me. the only difference i have seen is that the oil return from the top to the lifter side looks like they used a different method of cutting it. the 3.4s look more round through that passage...

it's best to go and get new bolts, but the stock studs will not work, as far as the gaskets go i would invest in the aftermarket gaskets specially made for headers.

I have a set of 2.8 MPFI heads, recently rebuilt for sale.
I'd be happy to make ya a deal.
New guides in several valves, includes valve covers.
Give a shout.
Yes do your best to use new head bolts in a swap. Not necessary for new intake bolts. But new head bolts, it's cheap insurance.

Are there any advantages to those over the stock heads?

if you have the fuel injection heads, these are the same. only advantage would be that these would be fresh when you put them on. port work could also be done.

That's correct
Only thing I can add is READING in GM Performance parts books
IT IS SAID BY GM the 3.4 head spring pockets are larger.
I'll let my rebuilt heads go at a fair price.

from what i understand the 3.4's also had better port design for better airflow too

The ports of the 3.4 to early carb 2.8, MPFI 2.8/3.1 seem identical.
It's valve size (for early 2.8 and then the MPFI usage) and the spring pocket area is the difference then on the 3.4s.

For me a common person shipping these heads, they cost over $50 of shipping.
I had my packaged weighed and it's over 50 pounds of weight.
That's a hopeful fyi answer for ya tho.....
They are coming from out west....
AND you being a Zone 8 in UPS shipping price lingo your price would have been same.
