ECM says other wise?

ECM says other wise?

Im getting a code 22 for the TPS. Now this thing is about 1 year old (if that). I have set it to .54 volts. The code showed up and never came back again. I checked to see if the screws were lose but all is good. What could the ECM be detecting that would make him read this code to me? Could there have been a quick glitch in reading the thottle or what? Is this a sign that the ecm could be going bad?

not sure, but i think so, mine is doing the same thing. has been for a year and a half.

probably just a glitch, I wouldn't worry about it too much. YOu said the light hasn't come back on, so forget about it and worry about it when it does come back on.

mine is still on, what the heck should i do, and i just re calibrated the tps, and i put it on like a month ago!

Thanks guys. I was wondering, by putting the DDM in the wires of the tps all the time to set it to the proper voltage, could this short out the wires and not the TPS?

The best advice I can give you is to get a hold of a Factory Service manual for your car. It'll outline all the proper steps and tell you where to go. Sometimes stuff goes bad and you get a code for something, but the code isn't directly related to what's actually wrong.

I used to get a code for VSS when I had a problem with the throttle return spring. it wouldn't close the blade all the way, so the TPS was showing off idle, the MAF was showing off idle, and the VSS was showing no movement. So, since 2 things were telling it information that would "mean" I was moving, but the VSS was showing a dead stop, it set a code for a bad VSS. See how stupid these computers are?

I have had similar troubles.... my first TPS sensor would get dust inside the return mechanism and stick sometimes.... and my new one likes to rotate downward over time, even when the screws are cranked down. I recommend checking the voltage again, even if you adjusted it a month ago (every 3 months or so i have to re-adjust mine).

I looked at my haynes manuel and it did not really give me any other alternatives for code 22 other than TPS issues. However, I will take yuo guys advice. Thanks alot.

thanks guys, no problem, i am about to have the computer sent out and gone over, and when i do that i will be replacing all the sensors on the engine. i can't see rebuilding the engine and leaving all those old worn out sensors on there!, i may just go with a new computer alltogether!
