Bosch +4's gone bad again.
Just to let everyone know again, I put some Bosch +4's into the car 2 weeks ago for a cheap high since I was taking this car AutoXing.
I did this knowing darn well I had a terrible life span on them the last time I tried them, however they do not need indexing because of the electrode style and will temporarly give the car a slight power boost because the eloctrode is not sheilded.
within a week the car already started fouling when first started and is looping until the plugs get to a hot enough range to fire decent. The platinum electrodes on these plugs just burn up and melt with hotter ignitions and the gap widens.
I only tried them again because I turned up the fuel pressure and the car is running richer than before. I figured I'd try them again since the chamber temps would be slightly cooler with the richer fuel mix. Still crap.
Going basck to my trusty Autolite non-platinum plugs- they are workhorses.

yeah, one of my friends ran +4s in his car for a while and i ran +2s in mine. i wasn't impressed. one of my friends bought some +4s for his car recently and i told him to take them back and get something cheaper that would also work better! those things are way overrated!

I am a big fan of AC Delco parts but their plugs aren't anything to write home about.
I have used rapid fires in the poast at the referal of people on this board and they too burn up fairly quickly in about 6 months.
I run a very hot ignition. Autolites have the largest electrode and will not corrocde as fast. They will last well over two years decent- I change them regarless about once a year though so nothing breaks and contaminates my cylinders.

In september, halo plugs should be available again. I cant wait.
I had them in my old dodge truck, they were nice.

i started liking the NGK plugs when i was working on motorcycles, and now they're the only one i use in cars i care about... the bosch +4s suck...... ACdelcos are ok.. ive never had a "bad" plug from them, but they're nothing to write home about... i used ACs in the V6 i got, and so far, so good....

I hate Bosch plugs for anything but non-performance, stock newer 4 bangers. And even then I'd prefer to buy NGK's for those.
My buddy had a set of Bosch platinums for his new cammed carbed corvette motor (355, Demon 650DP, moderate cam, high-rise dual plane intake, 1.6 full rr's, headers, etc.)
......I said "are those Bosch platinums?" and he said "yeah dude"... "Why the hell did you buy Bosch's?" "They were on sale for a set of 8....." "Take em back...." "Why?" "Just take em back and buy some D*** copper plugs...."
He listened to me and bought a set of Accel header plugs I pulled off the shelf for him after spending 15 mins with the counter guy who had no idea what he was talking about...
