next mod?

What should be my next mod? I have the following installed already. Asp underdrive crank pulley, accel super coil, accel 8.8 wires, accel cap&rotor, dynomax catback, dynomax cat, custom cai w/K&n filter, jet 180 t-stat, tb coolant bypass.

I know everyone is going to say headers but they dont have emissions legal headers out for the 3.1 yet so im just gonna move on a buy some other mod until the headers are available.

Yeah, look through Summit and find a mild cam for the
v6 motor so this way you can just install it and be done. No need to change 50 other things on the way. A chip? Ehh.. I dont know..

I would go with a compcams H260 cam or if you want a higher lift get a custom grind. For the custom grind just take the profile of a good v8 cam and apply it to a v6 cam stick.

I would also get the trueleo intake.

As far as the cam for low to mid vs mid to high goes...depends on if you race or just drive to work and back.

Or get some nitrous.

Plan on swapping springs also.

1.6 roller rockers + rebuild/port/polish your heads.

Do a cam swap, if you want, as well

MTC-5 from AZ for $116 - same as the ARI Phase 2 camshaft!

cam

that cam u seen in jegs is a weak cam that is used in the 3.4 engines, ive looked into the h260 before if i go turbo ill get that cam (slightly more aggressive than the mtc-5 and ramps up faster) if i go all motor or supercharger im getting the more aggressive h272

The only reason I mentioned the H260 is because I have heard many stories about crane being poor quality. I personally won't run crane. That is why I said custom cam which is about $175. Your money your car.

Which cam would be better for raceing the low to mid cam or the mid to high cam? I basicly when i rebuild my engine jsut want a very mild cam since my camaro is a daily driver and i know my engine is on its way out.

I would run the Comp Cams H260 because it increases performnace and gas mileage. Not both at the same time. Depends on how much pedal you apply.

For which is better.....When you race usually you don't go very low in rpms. I launch at about 3-3.5k, then while racing I shift as fast as possible to keep the revs up. So with that...I would suggest a mid to high cam. The H260 is good from 1k to 5k so that is good for pretty much all driving, very broad powerband. It is a single pattern cam meaning the intake and exhaust lifts are the same. This helps for peak power which is good in racing and for things like nitrous. You can get a dual pattern like the Crane 272 which has a narrower powerband. All fieros idle at 1k so my cam is in it's powerband from idle. I noticed the difference between the stock and this one instantly. It pulls way harder, like I was bobbing head to a good song. Comp says this cam has an excellent top end and a lope at idle. That's all they say...no lope...the top end is excellent and the low is better too.

Could also raise the compression by milling the heads.

Polish the heads and IF you know what you're doing port'em too. But if you don't know how to port you can't do any damage with polishing.

Gasket match everything.

If you need more "umpf" put 1.7 rocker arms. Yes I meant 1.7

None of these mods together will even hold a candle to the truleo intake. This intake magnifiies any mod after it.

but for over 600 you could get new rockers cam and a head port and polish, imho that intake is overpriced

Yes you are right it is expensive, but the mods you mentioned will only be as good as the intake flows. Weak flow equals weak gains, high flow equals high gains.

But most of the cams available for our engines makes peak power at or around 5k so the intake will only help on the top end.

Cam Swap

I have a 2.8 and went with the following cam 173-207 60° High Energy 240H Cam which I purchased from CompCams. It works fine with the stock computer or you can upgrade the chip for an extra 10 to 15 horsepower. You can also get the street legal chip without having to upgrade the thermostat. Your call!
