rear main seal goes flush???
rear main seal goes flush???
I couldn't find anything about actual position of the RMS in the bore from searching so I was just wondering:
Does the RMS have to be installed until it bottoms out or just until it is flush with the block??
I just replaced it a while ago and I tapped it until it bottomed out (1/2" to 1/4" past flush down in the bore).....felpro by the way. NOw it appears wet again. The old one appeared to be flush with the block. I never tried to knock it in farther obviously but I think it was about the same thickness as the new one. I am just wondering if the lip of the seal is too far in and on a smaller part of the crank or something???
So can you leave it flush with the block??
thanks.
