Spark Plugs?

Spark Plugs?

Is there really any such thing as a "Performance" spark plug? I've heard AC Delcos are the best to use on F-Bodies but what about the other plugs such as NGK Iridium/Platinum and Bosch Platinum (+2, +4, etc..) and Autolites....Are there really any differences between these plugs? Are ones better? Longer lasting? Bigger/Better sparkage? ( ) What brand do YOU use?

I'm one of those $1 plug special buys people
FOR MOST OF MY RIDES I stick in anything that is cheap.
Old engines & oil consumption ya change the plug often so why bother with "cost"
NOW for my low milage 3.4 mills I've been using Bosch Platinum plugs, (regular ones)
I haven't tuned up my ride on the Firebird in so long (like 3-5 years now). Last smog check I was "told" the plugs could still be quite good. Never pulled to check if that is true so I have not answer for that.
I still get great milage & Firebird runs strong.
All I can say is
IT DEPENDS ON condition of engine & blow by or oil consumption.
But spending over $2 per plug is pretty much a waste of money. Unless ya got a brand new car for that plug.
AND IF your ignition (including timing chain) isn't in great shape, I'd spend the effort for the ignition system first, plugs later on.

The only plugs that work decent and last long for me is Autolite 23's (standard non-platnum plugs). My ignition is very hot and burns up even the AC Delco's. I am a hardcore AC Delco fan when it comes to their electronics (sensors and such) but I do not like their plugs.

Autolites are workhorses. They have a very large electrode that lasts a vey long time on a 53,000 volt coil

i have been running a 53K volt coil on standard ACDELCO plugs for about three months so far with no problems.
i do however imagine that dean has been at it a little longer.

I used Splitfire SF2C's for a lonnnnng time (like 8 years) and never had a problem- until I got the MSD box. Then the plugs got eaten up quick! So I went back to AC R42TS plugs- they still get eaten up, but not as quickly.

I ran the the Splits because with the split electrode, the plug wore a lot less. Splitfire never ever claimed the spark would split in two, they claimed the plug would act like a "cut plug". But idiots all over the world thought the spark would split in two, and they were mad when they found out that's impossible.
