minimum idle problem

in adjusting the min idle i have to adjust the set screw so far out to get to the 600 rpm base idle that when i plug back in the IAC sensor it takes the idle to about 1500...... my tps is adjusted to .056 and 4.6 at WOT.... am i missing something? also, i have a vacuum guage permantaly hooked up, and i get readings of about 45 inches and steady... anybody know the correct specs, or what theres normally run's at????

Did you ground the ALDL before you unplugged the IAC? If not, here's what you do.

Ground ALDL
Turn Ignition to ON, not start
Unplug IAC
Unground ALDL
Start engine
Adjust idle speed
Turn off engine
Plug in IAC

This is the correct way to do it.

BTW...45 inces of Vacuum...HOLY CRAP!!! Your engine really sucks!

Seriously, you should see about 18" vacuum at idle

ok, in still trying to figure this out, here's an update...
i changed every part, hose, fitting, on the whole vacuum system.. it's tight and no leaks... changed the gaskets on the plenum, throttle body, and IAC sensor..... redid the steps to adjust min idle, and now i am getting tps code..(21) i checked the voltage and it's at .56 at idle,, and 4.68 at wot.. it goes through the range with no hesitation or stickyness... any help would be appreciated..
