3.4 w/turbo
I want to turbocharge my car in like a year or two and i was thinking by then i will need a new motor. Should i swap in a 3.4 with its 9:5:1 compression? Will that work good with turbo? I would just rebuild the old 3.1 but id like to save the money and get more power from just a quick and easy swap.

last i saw (which may have been a lil while ago) tiago was only running 5psi safely, and up to 7 or 8 psi. but that 330ish HP and close to 400 torque was just damn impressive no matter how you look at it!!!!!! GO DOWARD!!!!!!!!!!

*laughes*
Nope, nobody is correct. Let's just say that... something I saw recently (in the last month) just finally ticked me completely off, and I'm doing something about it... a LOT of something.

As for turbocharging a 3.4, go for it 9.6 SCR is nothing to worry about. With a proper tune you could easily run up to 10 PSI without changing any internals.
Just make sure there is sufficiant fual and spark timing to run smoothly.
I ran up to 9 PSi on my mildly modified hybrid 3.2L and the pistons still look brand new when I pulled the heads off to upgrade to the 3400 heads.
