Oil pump info

I dropped my oil pan yesterday and found alot of gunk in the bottom of it (that is what was causing my oilpressure to drop). With over 130k on the engine I am going to replace the oil pump while its down but the question is should I go back with a standard op or get a high volume pump. There ia about a 20 dollar difference but I want this motor to last a while till I find me a 3.4 to rebuild.

Get one for the 3.4... I think it's got a 3/4" pickup, instead of a 5/8"?

Get the high volume, too. Nothing wrong with more oil

Unless you have modified your engine, get the stock pump.

High volume oil pumps have a tendancy to completly drain the oil pan, and cause oil pressure fluctuations, and starving bearings for oil.
