Funny Noise
Has anyone ever had a harmonic balancer go bad on their car. A very funny sound coming from the engine and its not the normal things. Took the car to the shop today and they are trying to rip me off saying I need a new engine (they said I threw a rod). They expect me to pay $2200. Smoking some serious crack!!!!!!!!! SO I have had this issue before with my Buick so I will be pulling the belts off tomorrow to see what happens. If it goes away, its the balancer and I will go back to that shop and tell them a thing or two. Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this before.

Car: a car being parted out
Engine: blown up
Transmission: in peices
if you threw a rod...
1. your car would not start.
2. there would be a nice big hole somewhere
3. you would have no oil in crankcase
4. your engine and engine bay would be covered in oil.
The HB is put togeather with a rubber band ring that rots over time.
It will wobble, throwing the belts out of line that "CAN" create a whine, or chirp depending on how bad it is. Eventually, the rubber will fall apart and the outter ring will simply fall off.

OK! Possible fuel injectors. I went and took off the top of the plemun and saw that the connector on the back side of the fuel rail was not plugged up. So I connected it and now it just has one loud knocking noise and has gotten a little more quiet.
What do you guys think? My guess is to just replace all of them and see when I get.

Ok I have to get ready to go to work now nut I am lost. Here is what I get:
Its a sometimes loud knocking noise that comes and goes. It goes away till I hit the gas then it gets loud. As the engine idles down it goes away. If it was a pushrod wouldn't it be a constant sound? Sound checked the fuel injectors and they sound ok.
The only thing I can think of next is to pull the valve cover and put the plenum back on to check the adjustment that way. Guess I'll start on that tomorrow. But if anyone has any ideas I'm open for suggestions.

you have an injector that is losing its electrical field.
Use a mechanic stethascope and litsn to them as the car runs. It should be a minimal tapping noise. If it is anything more, it is going bad.

OK my man I will do that. I did it earlier with a screw driver and the knock is coming from the front drivers side. So I guess it will be the injector up from plug umber 5. I ahve replaced 2 of them so I will get 4 more and change the plugs also on friday before I break it down. Haven't changed the plugs since I've had it so I will give that a try 2. Thanks for your input.
Can't get spend too much more with this car. I have a guy that wants to sell me a 94 explorer for $750 and all it needs is a tune up and a heater coil. Too good to turn down so I'm taking away from my Camaro budget. LOL
