Running new ground straps?

Ok...we all know about the one on the firewall. But where else is a good place to start to run 1 or 2 more GOOD ground straps to help out the electrical system? Any advice.

block accessory mount to K frame...
Engine/trans bolt to K frame, body...
Trans assembly bolt to Trans crossmember...

hell... go wild... a good 8" 1" wide strap will solve a ground issue.

Very correct or just go to wrecking yard & seek alternatives & places "those cars" used for grounding straps.
On my 74 Corvette I have a ground strap from engine block to frame, right by starter.
BUT IN END...
Do you REALLY NEED TO DO THIS MISSION or is this a "band -aid" for another problem?

well if there is a grounding prob, it is usually an oil soaked band that is falling apart...
At least that has been 50% of my findings... the other 50% has been inadequate engine grounding...
So adding the strap to a failing, or poorly grounded strap is not really band-aiding it... you are straight up fixing, just not replacing the failing strap as sometimes they can be a pain to track down.

agreed. old grounding straps can cause some weird issues. the rx7 is known for an issue with the MAP with the way it was grounded from 86-88 they solved it by adding two grounding straps.

also known for having a weak electrical system as well that got worse during aging. adding a few extra grounding straps solved the problem or at least made it a little easier to work with.
fix would be getting a better aftermarket electrical system I guess but till then I did the band-aid method of fixing it by solving what mazda didn't do

I only tossed out my "Band-aid" statement to find out what is real problem.
First 1953 Corvette off "assembly line" did not start due to not enough grounding straps for the new age Fiberglass car, back then. Adding more grounding straps allowed the builders to start the car and drive it away.

Well...it might solve alot of problems. I know the volt gauge goes down below 13 volts when I turn the headlights on, but goes above 13 volts when the headlights are on and I turn the dimmer all the way off. Go figure. I have a stock radio with no amps at all in the car and the volt gauge goes below 13 volts as well. I know there is going to be a slight drop, but not that much. It might be a bad connection in the dash cluster where it meets the contacts in the dash. Maybe oxidation. Can't hurrt to try another ground strap or two.

Actually, your set up is righ on the money.
Don't touch a thing.
I WOULD SUGGEST
Recleaning ALL contacts
MAYBE EVEN NEW battery cables, too.
But serious your read out right on money.
IF your alternator is proper 105 AMP or more, you're fine.
PS New battery may be called on in future, but if all connections recleaned, I"ll bet ya be pushing that new battery off for much bit longer.

if he has a 105amp alt shouldn't his voltage stay just about where it normally sits all the time?

I at least know when the alt I ended up putting in my car from a thirdgen rx7 which is rated at 100amps (have seen them go as high as 130a) you turn everything on in the car. the headlights, radio, my amp is working fairly good, turn the rear defrost on and the voltage drops to just under 14 volts
but turn just the headlamps on themself voltage stays just about where it was without the lights on

the only time I had problems with my voltmeter going below 13's volts when the lights are one was with my stock 60amp alternator and it would be just under 13 volts

hell, my stock alt would dip, but I swapped it to a 140, and the guage never went below 13.2. At idle, everything off it sat pretty at 14.3.

I never had a ground issue, but that's what I used to replace the head-to-firewall ground strap. I figured, why not?

I think cleaning will be just perfect solution.
As at same time, "something may be loose" and then fixed.
The items chatting about, regulate the juice power. Battery has 12 volt rating on it, slightly higher charges feed it, then it dips for "balancing charged battery, as to not overheat battery" and ruin said battery.
The range stated it very workable.
Cleaning is the solution. In hunt for cleanliness, comes better performace.
