Just compleated installing new water pump!

Ok i just did the water pump yesterday!, ok i was wrong, i did have to remove the powerstearing bracket, because a bolt held the pump on thru the bracket.,thus sharing a bolt.,and a bolt from the ac mounting.,other then that no problems., I got a 1 yr waranty from auto zone.,for 15$ after a $10 core.,

Get this!., I bought some tacky "high temp"atv gasket sealer,.and the sum bi*** exploded in the package just sittin on my dash board.,luckly it was still in the bag., I took it back to auto zone! and they were suprised.,and refunded me no prob,.i already had enough for the job.,

One thing i still cant understand: Is that when my pump was removed my timing cover was still held in place with outer bolts,.unlike what i was told here! i have a 91 r/s 3.1 how come mine was not like every one else's?

Over all the job was very easy,.scraping the old gasket was a lil tidious!,.I used a pocket knife.,and a razor blade.,took my time and bumped some tunes.,.,

Oh and the pump did not have torx head bolts.,im guessing that is an indication it has been rebuilt befor?

I am in the middle of replacing my water pump too. You are mighty lucky that those were not torx heads! I had to grind the head off of one of the big ones cuz I couldnt get it to turn, and then heat it insanely and took forever to get the stud to turn (with a pair of vice-grips). I didnt have so much trouble with the gasket tho, as I used a wire-wheel very carefully to remove it. Also, when I got the trouble bolt off, coolant started pouring out from behind where the bolt was. I am 2 days into it right now (this is being done during free periods at school), and I have finally gotten everything preped to start putting the new pump on and reassembling.

Ya no torx bolts on the 91 i know that for sure and there are more bolts that hold your timing cover on if i remeber its been a while since i changed my waterpump.

The cover is held in by "glue".
One prys it off when "removing".
Ya should have considered a new timing chain while in there.

no! my timing chain was still bein held in by a few more bolt's, after the pump was removed!! i realy got in there and looked! because i was told to becarfull not to pry the timing cover off., i know for sure it was held on by a few bolt's cause i was tapping the old pump out with a hammer! as far as my timing chain goes,.,Yea i suppose i coulda done it but it dosent have many miles on it any way! so i should be good to go...................
