how long does the airpump run fo after startup

im getting a loud noise when i frist start my car that goes away after 10 seconds or so. wondering if its the airpump.

Isnt the air pump belt drivin? I dont think it has any type of clutch in it or anything, I would think it runs constantly as long as the engine is running. What kind of noise is it? Is it a mattalic type chattering, could be the starter bendix hanging in the flywheel for a few secconds. My brothers mustang does that.

The loud sqealing is your belt slipping until it gets hot enough friction it grabs and no longer makes noise, Tighten it up.

yeah, if its been doing that for a while, you might want to check the belt to see if its completely worn out or not... if it is, change it before you go through the trouble to tighten it.
