I know that the 2.8 will most likely work, but I'm unsure as to whether or not there will be clearance issues underneath the sub frame. Same idea with the 3.4, I think I know the block is the same, but will there be clearance issues? Same bolt patterns on the pan? Just those general questions.

you can use the 2.8 timing cover and the 3.4 oil pan, i did when i did my 3.4 swap due to my 2.8 pan having some dents in it and just being in overall worse condition.

some (possibly s-10s) had a different timing cover and oil pan...the mating surface between the two was at an angle rather than "flat".

and, the 3.4 timing covers don't have the timing tab to set the timing correctly since they had the DIS ignition.

im not sure of the pre-serp ones. but anything w/ a serp setup should work. just not sure about before then. if i get a chance, ill check out my grandmas 85 camaro(yes my grandma has a camaro, lol), its the v-belt setup, ill see how that looks, it may not be for a couple days though. anyone swap a 3.4 in a pre 86 2.8 and use the 3.4 pan?

why not just get another 2.8 oil pan and timing cover from a junkyard or something? The 2.8 pan and cover should fit the 3.4 right?
