Ok so i've been under the impression that i was going to be buying a new car soon, Sooo i've been beating my bitch like the red headed **** she is, whipping around every corner while revving the engine up to 7000+ rpm's, slamming the gas down hard everytime the auto trans shifted, you know stupid **** you would do in a rental car, good thing is i have had no SES lights on this engine since my swap and everything has been great for the past 3k miles its been in my car, i know because of my antics i need a new transmisson or at least a rebuild on this one and a new torq converter, Anyhow my question is how much damage have i done to this engine? it has about 93k on it which i dont think is too many and i read on the board for the trueleo aftermarket intake that you almost had to stop the engine from revving to 7000rpms and it was also reported that nobody had any engine issues because of the intake, so im hopeing since i want to rebuild this car now instead of junking it (all front end panels are missing) that i might not have done much damage, if i did kill it or damage it beyond repair ill just buy another 3.1 V6 for $100 and do a swap, thank you for any insight one can give me on this matter

If the power level feels about the same, you probably haven't hurt anything, yet. If you decided to keep the car, I might just go a little easier on 'er from now on...especially with a stock motor; there's no reason to rev it that high because its not making any horsepower up there.

what would be the parts to worry about damaging? if i have to get a new trans or rebuild my current one im going to pull the engine so i might as well fix anything i couldve damaged while its out

not that i would have done any different.
you may want to switch to a stick. you will notice increased power and acceleration (provided you know how to drive a stick) and well.... hell, shifting is awsome.

It just happens autos take more of that power away.
So like I said, it is not like the engine is MAKING more power, you are just able to put a little bit more of it to the ground.

i think the point is that for all practical purposes POWER is how much hp/tq gets put to the ground, so it does increase power. You get dyno gains from switching from auto to manual, and dont try to say +hp/tq isnt +hp/tq.
We know its not actually making any more power, anyone who doesnt probably doesnt even know what a transmission is.

no no no guys, no argueing about context of other peoples opinions, this thread is about what i mightve damaged by being retarded and which parts i need/should replace on my engine when i replace the transmission, also im going to be supercharging this 3.1 mpfi engine so its important i get this motor in tip top shape, thank you very much for your help, experience means everything!

anyway back to things you could have screwed with...
bearings, if they were a little loose, they could have tweaked the rods. If those tweaked too much, it sets off the piston pins. If those get set off, it will damage the piston, and cylinder walls.
Then it is an instant rebuild time.
So it could not be all that bad...
And if you are gonna supercharge the engine, your gonna want a fresh rebuild with all the fixings anyway.
