Bought a 3.4l with aftermarket parts.

So I just happened to be 1000miles away from home in Michigan and look what happened to jump in the back of my girlfriends explorer:

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/559174/5

All the aftermarket parts.

http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?s...2&lvl=3&prt=95
http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?s...lvl=3&prt=2135
http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?s...lvl=3&prt=2127
http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?s...&lvl=3&prt=122
http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?s...&lvl=3&prt=116
http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?s...41&lvl=2&prt=5

So now that I have everything I need to know how to check the stamped numbers on the block and head and find out specifics on the heads, like year, and what year the block is. Also wanna be able to make sure that all the after market stuff will work with the fwd heads.

Those heads are defintaly '96+ genIII 660 heads.

There will be casting numbers on them that some numbers are known to 60degreev6.com.

You'll need more than just the heads to make it work, the only non-custom intake that will work is the factory genIII intake, which will require the use of DIS ignition.

There are a couple of us working on modifying the genIII intakes to fit a dizzy.

If you can post a shot of the side of the block it would be easier to tell what it is. Also measure the bore size. 2.8/3.1 is 3.503" stock bore. 3.4 is 3.62" bore. 2.8 stroke is 2.99" 3.1/3.4 stroke is 3.31"
By looking at the mild dish in the pistons I'd say it's a 3.1, the 2.8L AFAIK never had dished pistons in a RWD application, and the 3.4 uses a larger dish I believe.

From side to side it's about 3 3/4's of an inch ID. The block has 10118608U stamped on it...best I can tell at least, could be 1011 or 11H. Heads, aluminum 24503769 and cast iron 14054884. I couldn't find anything thing that site that would allow me to find out what is what.

I used to live in Reading, MA, right outside of Boston. Moved up here cause screw mass and they're taxes and laws.

I've been looking forward to doing this for over a year now and I couldn't have gotten a better deal on a motor then I did. When you start looking for a motor put up an ad in parts wanted, I always get a lot of good offers in there.

Added more pictures of the motor to my cardomain site. I dug out the valve covers and they say 3.4l Gm Goodwrench.

I would like to get a set of bearings for the motor, are the Clevite P-Series Rod Bearings standard size good? Should I go over or undersized? Also are there any weakness in the 3.4l I should fix while I have it sitting on the floor of my garage? I was planning on getting a high flow oil pump, especially since it didn't come with an oil pump. Also are there any books out there for constructing this motor? I got someone who can help me but I'd like to work through it if I could by myself. Also I would like to have the book for torque specs and clearances...
