loose timing chain

loose timing chain
i went to replace my timing chain cover gasket. and the passenger side of the chain seems a bit loose. what would cause this? and what do i do to fix it? thanks...

Axle/Gears: 3.42
Over time the chain stretches. If the chain has about 70 K miles on it, I would replace the chain + chain tensioner to be on the safe side.
