Legit question this time

OK i just replaced the PCV valve grommet with a new one cause the old one was cracked and half missing. now the question when i hit the gas now the car laggs really bad till it hits 4,000rpm and then it takes off with enough power to chirp the tires WTF? what do i need to readjust to fix this? any Ideas it was running great just before i changed that grommet and not its runnin like crap. are there any wires backthere that i might have hit when i changed it?

well, i went to a car meet here in houston on tuesday, and when i got there my cat. converter was glowing bright red. so my cat is clogged, people there were telling me that they had seen clogged cats do all sorts of craziness to cars(including our little problem here). so im going to gut my cat, and see if it fixes it. if not back to the drawing boards i guess. ill let you all know.

Did you change the PCV valve when you changed the grommet? Because mine started doing it when I changed the valve back when I bought the car.... Just wondering

i have no Cattalitic converter and the cat would cause the reverse affect because of restricted flow through it. no i didnt change the valve when i did this. it has done this before but it stoped when i changed the ECU so i really hope its not that again

Mine did the same thing for a while, I took it to a dealership and they did an upper engine clean. Basically sucked carb cleaner thru a vaccuum line. Ran fine

Bout a month later back to bein sluggish

Then I popped another friggin lower intake gasket

Problem went away after I had her back together

Best guess is an upper intake leak, since I replaced all those paper upper gaskets with the kit

I can tell you for sure that its NOT the cat since I dont have one and it acted that way

do you have smog police cause if ya dont it is much better to just install a piece of pipe there instead of a gutted cat cause it will cause turbulence in the now open space and that will restrict flow to.

well, i dont have smog police..... but no muffler shop will weld in a y pipe for. its illegal or something....i called 20+ shops and noby would do it. but they did take the cat off, and let me bring my own" so i gutted it" and they said they didnt provide it so it didnt matter, but they had to out a cat on there. unless i could ahve taken it off before i went up there, but i didnt have anyway to cut it off. so i couldnt
