Water Pump Leak, Overheating, thoughts needed
Ok this is interesting really. After having searched I found that most likely my gasket has failed and is leaking, i can accept that. However, just when this leak started, my car seemed to overheat, atleast thats what the temp gauge says, yet my fan would not turn on. I thought that maybe my pump was broken, but there is still pressure in the hoses.
Now it happened to me again, my temp gauge read 220 and above, again no fan. Popped hood, felt hoses, not hot, can hold on to them, felt intake, little warm.
Im concluding it is my intake temp sensor, but why would it all of a sudden fail when I get a leak, coincidence?
Just want some thoughts on the issue if this has by chance happened to anyone else.

i would say coincidence. obviously the leak can cause overheating if your coolant level gets too low. but, if you can hold on to the hoses, it really can't be as hot as the guage says. also, if the sender in the head (or intake manifold, can't remember for sure which) is sending the wrong signal, that could keep the fan from coming on... actually the more i think about it, (i'm really tired right now) i think there's two sensors...one to send the temp signal to the ecm/guage and another to control the fan. the one for the fan is probably working and not telling the fan to come on because its not hot enough...the one for the guage is not working properly and giving you false readings on the guage. if i'm not thinking straight right now, i'm sorry...someone please correct me.
