squeaking
Well when its cold in the morning on or cold at night the car will squeak loud as **** and when i accelerate it keeps squeaking louder. The belt is brand new pretty much less then a 1000 miles on it i changed it when i got the underdrive crank pulley and i sprayed belt dressing on it even tho the belt was fine and i figured it wasnt the belt. Any idea on what the hell is making this noise? My autotech teacher said it could be my water pump but my engine temp is normal.

check to make sure all the accessory pulleys arent difficult to turn. I was having a squealing problem for a while, pulled the belt off and checked everything just to find out nothing was wrong and the belt was damn near new. Figured out it was the massive amount of rain causing it (I have a nice lil hole in my hood, not close to the belt but apparently close enough for a month straight of rain to mess with it but not 1-2 days of rain to)

check the tensioner, it may be wearing out and close to the end, causing not enough tension on the belt. also, belt dressing is a bad thing. once you find out whats causing the noise, fix it, get a new belt and take a wire brush to each pulley and get that crap off of there. belt dressing is a bandaid, and a crappy one at that. if you ever have that problem again, try silicone spray or vaseline on the belt, that will quiet it down for a lil bit.

its not the belt, but it only squeaks in the cold and it doesnt squeak nearly as much with the heater on. I heard it could be a a/c compresser bearing?

maybe his belt is several inches short, and the tensioner is taking up all but 1/2" of that?

i got the car back from the shop today because it was in there for a speed sensor the guy broke when he was installing my tranny and he fixed the squeaking by buying a belt that was a half inch shorter then the one i had on there.

yes you can get belts in 1/2" increments. usually, the part number on the belt has the last 3 digits as the size. like the last 3 being 795 is 79.5 inches. thats how i found my belt.
