oil pressure safety switch
looking to find out how many wires it has.

suppose to be near oil filter.

Does it have a 2 wire or 3 wire switch?

[not looking for the gauge switch.]


thing is AZ wants $40 for one and needs to order

found a few on Ebay long n short, 2-3 wire

Yanno... I just spent 10 minutes trying to dig up a full part number plus picture for ya..... and then I remembered how much of a complete pain in the *** you've been to me during and since my time as a moderator. Nevermind!

Book only shows two wires but ya never know.
Price vary from $9-$40 and I wanna order tonight.

it should be the 2 wire. I broke the 3 wire one during the 305 swap and that's the bastard that's $40 to replace

I only did that ignore feature with one guy on here... and I never checked on his posts, either. That's a memory for the old-timers here, huh?

Yeah it should be two wires.

Keep in mind too that it's not a real safety switch... it's more of safety as in "so your car doesn't die when you're merging onto a highway".

Go for a junkyard one!

And actually, you don't need it... I drove for years with mine disconnected. Why? Well when I put in my oil pressure and water temp gauges in my nifty new-for-1997 dual gauge pod, I thought the oil pressure safety switch was the gauge sensor. Yep, I unhooked/replaced the wrong one.

So a few years later when I realized I made a mistake, I removed and unhooked the correct gauge sensor, and hooked back in the "safety switch".

As long as your fuel pump relay's good, you're OK without GM's "safety switch".
