Is anyone here using the taylor 10.4 race wires if so do you notice a difference in the performance of the car? Also the same question for the pacesetter headers.

well from what i have heard is that you will not really feal much difference on these engines unless you open up the whole engine more not just headers or a new intake. the magor bottleneck in these ones is the heads which either need to be changed to later alum topend or be ported. do that and you will see a huge difference. PS you have to change the pistons with the FWD alum heads to the FWD pistons so as to bring the Comp ratio back down to 8:xx/1 or so. also once you go past a good set of accels or some other good brand you are just pissing away money on wires till you have need of such massive ones.

I agree with xplane. Heads are probably the most important piece of an efficient engine. But staying on topic headers and 10.4mm wires will give you little gains. But you have to look for 100 places to find 1 horsepower rather then 1 place to find 100 horsepower. Every little bit helps

TINY gains nothing you will be able to feel or justify the $200 pricetag on headers or the what will inevitably be expensive wires you just wont notice the difference or need the bigger wires unless you have a Very powerfull coil and a distrib that can handle that power as well. The best bang for the buck on these engines is get a 3.4 from a 93-95 or so camaro or firebird. strip it till its just the heads, waterpump, & block and put all your 2.8 stuff back on the 3.4 using the 3.4 injectors and bang instant gain of 25hp. and no one will now the difference till they ride in the car. plus you can get FWD 3.4 and 3400 upgrade parts that will work as well. such as the heads. i just called a local Jyard here in KS and they wanted $250 for a complete engine/ECU package. the RWD 3.4 from 4thgen F-bodys is bolt for bolt identical to a 2.8.

Headers by themselves are only worth 5-10hp, stock.
It's when you AREN'T stock, that they really begin to warrant their price

As for the wires, don't waste the money.
I'm running some Autozone Bosch 7mm wires on my turbocharged 3.1
They get the spark where I want it - that is their only job
The extra insulation on the wire doesn't help me at all.

im gonna agree w/ the 3.4 swap. you go from 135 hp to 160hp and 160tq to 200tq. and thats just a basic swap. add a cam, roller rockers, headers, P&P and all that in there and you start to really gain. start out w/ the free/cheap mods though if you dont have the money. 180* tstat, gut the air boxes, etc etc. the list goes on and on, just do a search for "mods" and youll find everything you wanted and more.
