HELP..... I need help tonight

ok i have been having problems with my starter....well ok let me rephrase that. Im having problems starting my car, it will be fine, then for no reason it seems like my starter is dead. it never bothered me because i never really drive the car, but my car i now parked at a gas staion down the street and its acting as if the starter is dead ( so i think). i try starting it and the starter makes no sound, my volts drop and nothing happens. please let me know something if you know whats wrong.... or if you have some suggestions. thanks guys

If the starting solenoid isn't clicking, and the volts are dropping, that indicates that there is a short in the wire before the solenoid. If you want to test your starter, you can try manually jumping the starter solenoid.

Sounds like its heat soaked. But that usally only happens on the V8s.. About the only way for it to be heat soaked is if the Exhause gasket ( or pipe ) is blown out on that side... Does it restart once its cooled down? or does it matter if its hot or not for this to happen.. The starter could also be hung up on the flywheel.. if so U could rotate the engine backworkds to dislog the bendix and try restarting it ...

well like right now for example... the car has been sitting all day.. i drive to the gas station to get gas because today was payday, and it starts fine i drive there, put in gas, go to start it up and..... nothing, the selanoid isnt popping the start isnt turning... i pushed the car from the pump, to a parking spot and tried again and.... nothing. the car ran a total of2 mins at the most, didnt even have time for it to warm all the way up. Ok how many wires are running to the starter? if there was a short i want to know how many wires im going to have to be chasing down in the dark. once again thanks for the help.

well i have had problems with my battery draining, due to part of the retrofit of the 2.8 into the rx7. but i dont think that would keep it from starting... and my battery cables are new.

Well there at lest 2.. But I dont know what was hooked up to ur starter .. sence I understand ur 2.8 is tranplanted to a RX7 it could be a crap shoot to guess whats wrong.. But I would jack it up and put a junper wire on the smallest termil and push it uup to where the batts at.. than turn the key on.. make shour the cars in park or (N) P brake on and than touch the jumper wire U just ran to the (+) of the batt.. and it should start as long as the starter is any good..

well i didnt want it sitting at that shady little gas station so i wanted to see if power is getting to the starter. so a minute later and a screwdriver i touched both terminals and the car started, so i think either the (tumbler switch, keyed part) of the ignition, might be bad... i dont know.... at least its home now. thanks a bunch, everyone on here (mostly) is extremly helpfull and always willing to give a suggestion. Even with my v6 powered rx-7. <~~~ he he. i try to be different and see what i get, problems, i dont know, its cool, and that little engine is quite quick in the light little rx7. anyways..... thanks

my car does the same thing right now, it starts fine when completely cold, but once its run pretty much at all it wont start again on its own(putting power to the starter works) its most likely a problem with the starter enable relay, on the drivers side of the foot well(or somewhere close).

there is major truth in that batt cable thing. i don't know about the guy with the rx7 (might be using post batt) but our screw/stud batt cables don't contact for crap. i had to tighten mine so much to get the car to start last time i thought the battery was going to crack. finaly i made enough contact to start. this was with new studs too. that is now the first thing i check.
