catco cats for 2.8
catco cats for 2.8
Have any of you guys gone with a catco cat on you 2.8? If so, how do you like it, any difference (they are high flow, are they not)? Does it change the sound any?
thanks.
thanks.

i had one for a while. best 30$ i ever spent.
as far as "high flow" goes, i was reading somthing recently that said that high flow is a gimick. they all pretty much flow the same. anything you buy off the shelf will outflow the stocker by leaps and bounds. thats why i always thought a "cat-delete" ona 2.8L engine was silly.

Yeah, as far as High flow goes, it doesn't matter on our cars. Any Honeycomb style cat will outflow 400hp, and I'll be shocked when Doward hits that mark with 30psi...lol.
Anyway, they aren't known for their longetivity when it comes to getting you past smog in 4 years, but if all you're looking for is a "right now" cat, it'll be fine. They're cheap for a reason.

I will have to maybe consider one of the others then if the price is similar. I will have to recheck prices.thanks.

i passed smog with my catco, 30K and 2 years later i passed again. however "cheap for a reason" sounds like sound logic to me, if magnaflow or carsound is the same price deffinatly go with one of the better brands.
EDIT and thats with no air injection hooked up. well the pump and manifold connections are all still there, just not connected to the cat.

Anyone know if there is a dynomax direct fit for the 2.8? I have not been able to find one yet.

Actually called jegs and ordered one yesterday and verified that it is the correct one for 6s also. Its just a direct fit for our camaros v8 or not. Its just listed that way on the site. If ur not sure call yourself and verify first just like I did.

So will only changing a cat (to a higher flow one) change the sound of the car at all or is that primarily the muffler?? Sound is not my goal with this, I just need to change the cat and got curious.
