Did stuff and now it dosn't work right.

Yesterday I felt industrious and started fiddling around with my are. My 90 rs with the 3.1 was running fine when I started. I checked my coolant, oil transfuild and all the other good stuff. I checked the air filter and decided to remove the stock snorkel off the air filter housing. Then I cleaned up battery connections. After I was done it started to run funny so I turned it off and checked my vacuum and electrical connections and then started it back up and it ran better then it was. It’s mostly runing back the was it was but now it stalls when ever I hit a stop light. Any sugestions? IS there a sencor code I sould be runing? Should I pop rivit that snorkel back on.? Thanks ahead of time for any help

put it exactly back to the way it was before you messed with it. Then unhook the battery for 5 minents. you may have a vacume leak.--also check the codes

It has to start somewhere!

later

If you disconnected the air-filter duct from the throtle body you may have accidentally knocked your TPS out of adjustment.
I'm no expert so hopefully so others will chime in !!

you removed the stock snorkle? Did you put it back? if not , what did you put back? make sure the intake air temp sensor wasnt knocked loose in the process.

I'm going to guess you cleared the programing out of the ECM. It now has to relearn idle and it will do that for the next few hundred miles. That is, unless you have the tools that gm has to do the idle learn that the 3.1 needs, and 2.8 doesnt.

I am going to go with Dale on this one. When you cleaned the battery connections, you disconnected the battery right? My 2.8 on the bird doesn't have that problem, but the 2.8(FWD) in my 89 6000 sure does. Whenever I disconnect the battery I have to let the ECM relearn everything, and it acts kinda funny (revs a bit higher on start up, stalls, and what not). IDK if it'll help, but I let mine (2.8 FWD) reach operating temp once I reconnect the battery before driving/shifting from park to drive etc... or anything, and it seems to shorten the relearn time considerably. If not, the other solution I can think of it.....drive!
