i wouldn't even consider that if i were you it would be a pain is the *** and too much work. You can get a 350 out of a silverado at a junkyard for around that price. And plus parts for the 3.4 are expensive.

3400 is doable still a lot of work, but the DOHC would be far more trouble than it's worth.

not realy, having just completed it myself. teh 3.4 dohc has no aftermarket, and I've yet to hear someone NOT complain about working on one. rwd 3800 II or [gasp] vee-ate [/gasp] are viable options, along w/the ever popular rwd 3.4 swap boogie, or even the 3X00 top end swap.

It would be easier to swap a V8 into the car than a DOHC. The V-H8 swap has been documented and all parts available at the wreckers, and parts stores. The DOHC swap has only been attempted to my knwledge by one person and AFIK, has yet to be completed, this was a few years I saw the beginings of it.
The fabrication involved is overwhelming, custom mounts, custom exhaust manifolds/headers, custom belt set-up/accesory brackets, possible custom intake, tranny bell housing modificatio, or block drilling and tapping to move the starter, among countless other changes and custome parts needed.

ha i thought you meant converting your f-body to front wheel drive thats why i pretty much said forget it. Really if you can get a complete car with a v8, a third gen would be the best to get, you could have everything you need to drop your v8 in there. In my case, theres a knocking rod and the trans needs work, but for 500 bucks whos complaining. You'll get everything but some things you'll want to upgrade like fuel pump, driveshaft (why not go aluminum?) torque converter, just simple things like that.

The v6-8 swap sticky is pretty much cut & dry. I took off my dash again & ran the 84 harness (dash & engine) and didn't really need to touch the firewall harness at all (previously touched during the 3800 swap, iirc). mounts confused me at first, until I realized I was holding them reversed. I jsut moved/bent the k-mbr brakeline back a little to clear. If going slush box, make sure you cain score teh factory tranny lines. I reused the 3800 ones, and had to coerse them a little to clear the starter, which is now on the wrong side, and the y-pipe. I do recommend getting front vee8 springs, as I'm scraping a little, and my springs were down 1/2 coil already durring the plethera of v6 swaps.
after all these yrs, I still wish I had taken the time to find another 2.8 engien harness & swapped that & have driven the bird trouble free than go through all the other crap .
