New exhaust+gears

Hey guys i have a 2.8 v6 and im going to do exhaust and gears to get a meaner louder sound to it.. Anyone have any suggestions on what exhaust i should use and what gears i should use...I have the stock rear end so i dont know what gears i can use and I heard Dynomax exhaust sounded good on our cars too....If you have any sound clips that'd be great too.

Thanks,
Nick

gears as in differential gears?
if ur car is an auto i think u have a 3.23,
if its a stick, u probably have 3.43.

im not completely sure but changing gear ratio doesnt change how the car sounds..

i use a single tip flowmaster since single tip makes more sound according to my muffler shop lol
when u go to a muffler shop,
tell them what kind of sound u want, deep&mellow or powerful&loud
kind of sound.

as far as I know, all 6's came with 3.42's from the factory, I may be wrong though. You can go all the way up to 4.56's if you like, just don't plan on much freeway cruising.

3.73's are the way to go to keep the gas milage and get a little more punch.

I have the dynomax and I guess it sounds alright... Actually, once I put a short ram intake on it I noticed the exhaust tone to be deeper... Maybe its just my mind playing tricks on me though... lol

v6 cars. autos came with 3.23s. manuals came with 3.42s. 3.73 is a good gear. I've heard a lot of people say 4.10s are good for manuals. depends a lot on what you plan to do with the car.

u have 3.42 gears stock.i highly recomend 4:10 gears for the v6 cars.going to 3:73's only raises the rpms 310rpms.its only a slight diff from the 3:42's.going to a 4:10 gear from a 3.42 is a 680 rpm diff.and will make a huge diff in off the lien acceleration and top end power.as far as ex dynomax, magnaflow,or spintech all sound good with the v6.a flowmaster sounds good from idle to 3,000 rom but is a bit ***** above 3,000

Ebay, Summit Racing, Hawks... I'm sure many places carry them.

you can get the gears a bunch of places. just look for a set for a 7.5" 10 bolt. if you want used ones, check the classified section of this website, too.

you're gonna wanna get yourself a posi differential too, if I remember correctly no v-6's came with them, they were all open differentials.

you'll be putting in relatively the same amount of work anyway, and it'd help you as much as the changing of the gears as far as speed goes.

as far as exhaust note, changing the gears would cause you to consistantly sit at a higher point in the rpm range, so make sure you like the sound of your exhaust before you do that, as you'll be hearing a lot more of it.
