Pacesetter headers on a 92 3.1 Question.

Okay, I've done some searching, and heard multiple things regarding this. I'd like to get the Pacesetter headers for my 1992 3.1. My question is this : Will they be a bolt on and will it still work with the smog system and what not? Will fitting them to make them smog friendly be an issue?

They will bolt up but wont work with the 3.1 smog system. I could be wrong but I think the 2.8 has 6 smog tubes, one for each primary tube, and the 3.1 only has one, next to the egr. Mabye you could fab up a tube and make it work, but Ive never heard of anyone doing that.

Would not having the smog system make me fail PA emmissions tests?

Im not in an emissions testing county but I think to pass you have to have it on and functioning. You may pass the sniffer test but the visual test may get you, unless the tech misses it.
Where in PA?

Most places(in PA) the testing for smog is only visual on any vehicle older than 1995, so if you can make it look stock it should pass. Other than that they just test if your gas cap works... At least that's how it is here in Lehigh county.

Ok I added those headers to my 92 3.1L theres no way to hook up the smog pump to the headers. Ive had to disconnect mine. With it off now my o2 sensor stays open loop which was causing my car to stall when i came to a light or was decceling down a hill.

Does your car stall only when its cold or at all times- cold and hot?

So... these headers on a '92 3.1 aren't even remotely worth it?

Well its just your luck to get stuck with the 3.1 that didn't last very long so they didn't bother making a set for it. All you gotta do is get a welder, or find a friend with a welder and fab your own smog mount.

That or change engines.

Its not rocket science, with a welder and tad bit of testing, anyone can fab metal easy.
