No Dash Lights

Curious if anyone has had this happen to them. I was driving along and I heard the fuse pop and the lights went out. Changed he fuse and it blew again. Has anyone had this happen and if so what was the problem? I know it could be a number of issues but wanna look into it for a quick fix till I can take it to an electrical shop.

Hmmm. Leo, we have all done that before! I just wouldn't suggest leaving it long like that or you will cause more problems in the future (speaking from experience )

If you keep blowing a fuse, then you have a short to ground somewhere.

You should NEVER just install a larger fuse because the wiring is only designed to handle a certain amount of current flow, any more and the wire starts to heat up, melt insulation and possibly catch fire.

it sounds like it's time to break out a wiring diagram of the interior lighting system and find the ground.

It may be the cigarette ligher, the ones down near the ash tray sometimes get a coin dropped into it. That will cause it to short out.

The dash ones also have issues. If you have a dash mounted lighter take it out and put it in the console. Then see if the fuse keeps popping.

RBob.

Thats cool if it is the cig lighter since I don't somke its a reason for me to unhook it period. I can use that power for a feed to the dvd player I plan on mounting in the dash. LOL I'm going to pimp my own ride.

Just wanted to say thanks to all that assisted me with my electrical issues. I dissconnected the cig lighter like suggested and that fixed all my issues. The horn, dome light and dash lights all work now. After I replaced the fueses that kept blowing it was all good. Now the power to the cig lighter will be used for something else if I still plan to do it. Once again thanks!

Now there is a small fuel leak at the cold start injector that needs some attention then I'm good. I'm really enjoying my car. I have been driving it for a month straight, this is the longest I have driven it since I brought it 1 1/2 year ago.
